Sleep Apnea Therapy in Buffalo Grove

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious medical condition in which the upper airway closes during sleep and cuts off oxygen to the body. Untreated it can cause serious and life-threatening medical problems as well as severe daytime sleepiness and quality of life issues. Physicians will usually recommend a device called a CPAP for someone diagnosed with OSA. CPAPs are masks strapped to your face and attached to a machine which forces pressurized air into your airway while you sleep. Though highly effective, a large percentage of OSA patients simply cannot tolerate sleeping with a CPA P device. They are also difficult to travel with.

A Dental Sleep Apnea appliance can be used as an alternative to CPAP machines for patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. They work by holding the lower jaw forward of its resting position while you sleep which helps keep your airway open. We adjust or “titrate” your appliance for both your comfort and your health.
