Dental Bridges Represent a Time-tested and Reliable Way to Replace Missing Teeth

Dental BridgesAt Dental Design, one of our goals is to ensure that you have whole teeth and a complete smile. It’s important not just for your appearance, but also for your dental well-being. Missing teeth allow the remaining ones to shift, causing discomfort and often leading to your bite (occlusion) being thrown out of sync. Furthermore, your ability to chew and even digest can be compromised. Let us fit you with fixed or removable dental bridges.

Dental Bridges

In as few as two sessions, you can have an effective solution for that empty space where you used to have teeth. Impressions are taken and sent to the dental lab. There, your dental bridges are made. A fixed dental bridge is cemented to your gums. It is also held in with anchors attached to your neighboring teeth. In order for those anchors to be secure and dependable, the tooth on either side has to be drilled down. The anchors are then placed, and a crown is cemented over each one. If you would prefer to not affect your other teeth at all, you can have a removable bridge made instead.

Also sometimes called removable partial dentures, they are designed with a plastic base that is colored to resemble your gums. The appropriate number of prosthetic teeth are attached to the base, which you will apply dental adhesive to when you want to put it in. Metal clasps serve the same role as the anchors on a fixed bridge, except that they merely attach to your teeth, so you won’t lose any tooth material.

There is no definitive answer as to which type of bridge is better. It comes to down to your situation and your personal preferences. Arrange an appointment at our office by calling us right now. A consultation and examination will assist in determining the right solution.
